凡是圆角柜均为木轴门，正因如此，或称之为木轴门柜。凡是方角柜均为合页门.

自古以来，结婚嫁妆中，有百子图的锦缎被面的被褥，用来蕴涵喜庆和祝福，同时祝愿新娘早得贵子、子孙满堂、阖家和美。在陶瓷上，最早的婴戏图见于唐代长沙窑的“婴戏持莲纹壶”，宋元“婴戏”题材较为多样，到了明清发展到了鼎盛时期，“百子图”比“婴戏图”更为广泛地使用，人数大大增加。

明代【黑漆百宝嵌婴戏图立柜】

黑漆百宝嵌婴戏图立柜，高186厘米，横126厘米，纵61厘米。

此立柜又称方角柜，立柜四面平式，对开两扇门，凿双环式铜合页，壸门式下沿板。柜内装堂板，设抽屉2个，红漆柜里，抽屉黑漆彩绘折枝花卉。云纹铜套足。柜门嵌色石、螺钿婴戏图，螺钿钱纹锦边框。柜四周边框上开光，内嵌色石、螺钿花卉，间布嵌螺钿钱纹锦地。下沿板嵌色石、螺钿双夔龙。柜两侧开光嵌彩石、螺钿花卉纹，四周开光绘花卉纹。柜背黑漆。

此柜之婴戏画面生动，色调丰富，通体髹黑漆地，在黑漆地上以各种料石镶嵌图案，工艺精巧，在现存明代漆家具中罕见。

柜以黄花梨木包镶，分为上下两部分，并各装四门，正中可开，两侧可卸，门上装铜合页与铜锁鼻。柜面用螺钿、田黄石等嵌出各种人物、异兽、山石、花木，上层为历史故事画，下层为番人进宝图，柜肚为婴戏图，边框饰螭龙纹。方足铜包脚。

此类柜又称顶箱立柜，由底柜与顶柜两部分组成。一般成对摆设，所以又称四件柜。此柜即为成对柜之一。柜面所嵌饰件高于面板，具有立体感。于黄花梨材上作镶嵌装饰，在家具工艺中较为少见。

This striking Chinese Chinoiserie cabinet was retrieved from Shanxi Province, a centuries old mountain city located in the Northern China. This cabinet is one of 3 rare finds. It was used to store either wardrobe or bed ware such as comforters or linens. The two panel doors are adorned with the hand-painted image of flowers and exotic birds. It has two shelves, one inside drawer, and secret compartment at the bottom. This cabinet is kept almost at its original condition. The structure and surface restoration was very minimal. This beautiful antique Chinese Chinoiserie cabinet will be excellent showpieces in living rooms, great rooms or family rooms. It will be a stunning dry bar cabinet. The cabinet was typical square-corner construction.

of rectangular form, fitted with two hinged doors above a deep apron, opening to reveal twenty drawers of various sizes, embellished to the front with mother-of-pearl depicting an animated scene of mounted huntsmen and women engaged in combat set within a landscape with gnarled branches issuing clusters of leaves emerging from rocks, all against a black lacquered ground, the hinges and lockplates detailed with four-clawed dragons and carp interspersed with ruyi pendants, together with a European 19th Century cabriole legged lacquered wood stand

90.5 by 53.5 by 83.5 cm, 35⅝ by 21 by 32⅞ in.

Condition Report
There is a vertical age crack to one door which has been stablised. There are cracks and restorations to the inlaid decorations. The handles on the side may have been repaired, likely for stablisation purposes. There are chips to the edges and some wear, age cracks and minor flakes overall. There are also some refreshing to the lacquer of the interior and the drawers.

The gilt decoration has been repainted and the surface revarnished. There are numerous nicks and small areas of loss as well as repair along the corners and edges, most noticable to the top corners and the top left edge, along the left and right front edges, near the bottom and along both sides of the apron, and to the top right corner of the left door. The inside is lined with paper. There is damage to the right edge of the right drawer and the tops to the lower compartment are replacements.

Opening with two doors on three shelves, revealing two drawers, the main doors made up of panels decorated in red, dark green and ocher lacquer on a brown background ( tianqi ) incised and highlighted in gold ( qiangjin ). The panels are decorated with cranes, pheasants, peacocks and other auspicious birds in an idyllic landscape, the lower section decorated with two powerful dragons chasing the sacred pearl above the tumultuous waves; metal hinges and fittings decorated with dragons; subsequent wear and transformation.

Lot Special
This present cabinet delicately combines the two lacquering techniques qiangjin (incised lines filled with gold) and tianqi (coloured lacquer). The qiangjin technique was developed as early as the Wu Kingdom (AD 222-252) of the Three Dynasties period (see box excavated in 1986 at Ma’anshan City, Anhui), widely adopted on lacquer wares from the Song dynasty, and was used on Imperial lacquer wares with dragon motifs during the Ming dynasty. While the earliest time when these two techniques were first used together on lacquer wares was unknown, a number of qiangjin and tianqi lacquer wares such as boxes and trays were made during the Jiajing and Wanli periods.

A Wanli marked and dated cabinet of such large size is however extrememly rare. Compare to a magnificent qiangjin and tianqi cabinet, dated dingwei year of the Wanli period (corresonding to 1607), illustrated in Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum: Furniture of the Ming and Qing Dynasties (I), Hong Kong, 2002, p. 202, pl. 172.

Each screen is delicately decorated in shades of gilt and pewter inlay, one side features scenes of figures farming, weaving, hunting, and at leisure, all within a border of confronting dragons chasing the flaming pearl on one screen, and various longtailed birds on the other. The reverses are decorated with birds and butterflies amongst flowering branches, all within a scrolling border.

The front of the screen is decorated with ladies and boys at play in a fenced garden between a register of birds and a register of mythical beasts. The scene is inlaid with various hardstones, bone, and mother of pearl with gilt highlights on black lacquer. The reverse is decorated with gilt flower sprays on a brown lacquer ground.

late 13th–15th century

Twenty-two boys play games, ride hobbyhorses (a toy that may have been invented in China), and enjoy a large masonry slide in the corner of an imperial garden. Children at play was a popular subject among artists of the earlier Song Imperial Painting Academy. Judging from the costumes and representational techniques, this painting was most likely executed in the first years of the Ming dynasty, when the imperial court revived the styles and subjects of the academy.

此对儿大柜为四面平式，木胎髹黑漆。柜门上描金彩绘百宝嵌“庭院仕女婴戏图”，画工精美，雕工精湛，构图丰满，树石、亭台、人物造型逼真。柜门边框彩绘花草纹。直腿方足，腿间设平牙板，上绘花卉竹叶纹。明装黄铜合页，合页锻造平整厚实，与整体颜色相互呼应，尽展华贵之气。整器黑漆润泽，古味悠长，颇有雍容典雅之感。

A pair of hardstone-inlaid gilt-lacquer cabinets, Qing dynasty, 19th century 

each of rectangular form, the doors finely embellished with soapstone, mother-of-pearl, bone, jadeite, agate and other hardstones to depict numerous boys at play and groups of ladies playing weiqi and musical instruments, all within a garden setting with a tiered pavilion and over-hanging pine and wutong trees, all framed by a mother-of-pearl lozenge border and shaped cartouches enclosing various floral sprays against a lozenge diaper ground, the sides similarly embellished with chrysanthemum, peony and prunus blossoms, with metal lockplate and hinges.

描金柜是来源于素有“华夏之根、黄河之魂、佛教圣地、晋商家园”的山西，山西深厚的文化底蕴培育出多种多样的艺术表现方式。山西的家具也是独称一派“晋作”。素来，家具上的绘画也是一种极为讲究的装饰手法。山西家具多以大气磅礴著称，但也不乏细致精美之品。

明末清初 红漆描金 百子婴戏庭院纹
带柜膛 方角柜方角立柜

纵观此展览中的大描金柜，乃明万历时期的制品，已经度过了四百多年的寒暑，朱漆已经有些斑驳，但柜子的描金之画却仍不减当年之韵味。此对顶箱柜的顶箱已遗失，立柜均为四面平式，对开两扇门，中间有栓杆，门上镶八角云头式圆面叶，三扭头，六角云头式合页。柜门内各有三条穿，抽屉架已遗失。柜门上为百宝嵌庭院祝寿图，其中除了高坐楼阁之上的主人、往来贺寿的文武官员和忙碌的仆人之外，还表现了庭院楼阁、小桥流水、梧桐、奇石、芭蕉、仙鹤、鹿等丰富的内容。下沿板各有四组百宝嵌胡人献兽图，并有大明万历甲申年制款。在此画中尽情展现了一个大家庭院祝寿的画面，人物刻画入微，人让人不禁心向往之。柜边四周开光中百宝嵌博古图样，包括鼎、觚、爵、佛手、香炉、赏石、文房用具等。两侧柜帮百宝嵌折枝花鸟纹样。百宝嵌使用的材料包括：象牙、骨、玉石、螺钿、寿山石、料器等。立柜体量较大，内容丰富，不仅具有装饰性同时也具有很明确的叙事性，与明代人们的生活有着紧密的联系，是研究明代后期历史、文化和生活的重要视觉材料。画家王正闽先生点评其描金之画：整体清秀，意境平远别致。

描金柜是用天然漆对家具木胎的加工，漆的基本颜色原来是红色和黑色两种。山西基于本地产木料榆木、核桃楸、紫椴等皆为柴木，此类木材所做的家具需要表面做漆来保护家具表面，以延长家具使用寿命。但山西别致讲究的大院中，这种大尺寸的柜子，在无雕刻和造型为主要表现形式的前提下，以描金之画作为柜子主要突出之特色，更显柜子的大气磅礴中透露出细致精美之神韵。

明黄成《髹饰录》：“描金，一名泥金画漆，即纯金花文也。朱地、黑质共宜焉。其文以山水、翎毛、花果、人物故事等；而细钩为阳，疏理为阴，或黑里，或彩金像。”

沈福文《漆工资料》具体介绍了描金漆装饰的制作过程：“将打磨完的素胎涂漆，再髹涂红色漆或黑漆，这层漆叫上涂漆。干燥打磨平滑后……推光达到光亮后，用斗透明漆调彩漆。薄描花纹在漆器面上，然后放入温室，待漆将要干燥时，用丝棉球着最细的金粉或银粉，刷在花纹上，花纹则成为金银色。”这种方法制成的漆器有金碧辉煌的效果。早在战国、汉代，中国已掌握了用金的方法，到宋代出现描金花纹的漆器，明代仇英即擅长描金彩漆制作。

古代的漆工发挥了极大的美术智慧，用各种方法加工，或是漆雕，或是螺钿镶嵌，或者是在一色漆上加以他种色漆的图案装饰，使得明清两代和以前的漆加工的日用品，亦是艺术品了。

对于这描金柜与笔者而言颇有些渊源。还记得十几年前第一天在家具厂上班的时候，早上第一件事就是清洁家具。本着踏实认真的工作作风，把每件家具的里里外外都要清理干净。在保洁到新做家具小描金柜时，看着每个柜子上的精美图案，喟叹着原来家具也可被当做画布使用。这描金柜彼时在国际市场非常流行。曾经有个澳大利亚的客户，他专门带着这类柜子到世界各地参加家具展，然后，整个集装箱的出口这描金柜。在工艺上，这描金柜里外都有漆覆盖，故对木质要求不是很高，很多新做的柜子都是用杨木或桐木做白活。但杨木或桐木本身对环境的变化比较敏感，容易随季节或干湿情况开裂或变形，在做这描金柜的柜子面心板的时候，工人往往给木头面上披一层纱布，再挂灰，后上漆。这层布是防止柜子开裂的一个保障。后来，工厂发现，这样做的柜子有的还会开裂，鉴于节约成本的原则，他们开始用复合木板做柜子的面心和侧板，用木料做柜子的框架，这样，被大漆覆盖的柜子，即降低了成本，又保证了不会出现开裂或变形。但这新做的描金柜就失去了原汁原味的韵味。如今这老描金柜越来越少了，但漆器与绘画在柜子上的完美结合，也是我国古典家具里不可多得的瑰宝。

1579　清康熙 黑漆描金百鸟朝凤翼龙纹方角柜一对

柜为典型的清康熙时期样式，黑漆为地，描金为饰。框架上描绘缠枝莲纹，布满整个空间，这种装饰手法自明晚期已有，至清康熙时达到高峰，应用极为广泛。成对的四扇柜门上，描绘百鸟朝凤图及四季花卉。春为玉兰、牡丹，凤凰栖息其上，春燕、蛱蝶飞舞；夏为石榴、荷花，水中鸳鸯，树上双雀；秋为桂花、芙蓉、菊花，长尾双雉和翠鸟穿插其间；冬为梅花、山茶、水仙，点缀仙鹤、绶带鸟。图案都是取自水泊一角，构图近似而各有变化，各色花卉烂漫盛开，禽鸟悠游其中，太湖石掩映，如同四幅优美的画卷装裱其上，绘制工整，构图精妙。

柜门下横枨、闷仓与牙板髹漆后形成大平面，壸门牙板之上，描金饰海水江崖图案，双龙拱卫，龙的造型为两腿四爪，背生双翼，尾若鱼，衍化出卷草纹，图案周匝空白处饰以缠枝莲纹，草叶卷曲如火焰。
柜两边侧山，自上而下依次描绘圆形、扇面、倭角方形三种开光，内饰花鸟纹，花卉的叶脉都以细笔密画，效果近似戗金。这种圆形、扇面、委角方形等各种开光在家具上的应用，源于明晚期，盛行于清代早期，康熙时期最为典型。

柜上装有白铜面叶，也是典型的康熙时期特征。葵花形面叶，上錾刻螭龙纹，方扭头，看面錾刻手持笏板的天官，吊牌类双鱼形，上錾刻变体双螭纹。合页则为两个上下相对的蝴蝶形，枣核形轴，钉以大泡钉。蝴蝶合页、泡钉、天官扭头，都是清早期漆柜中极为典型的样式，故宫博物院藏清早期黄花梨百宝嵌职贡图顶箱柜亦采用类似的铜活。

柜内膛髹朱红漆，设有抽屉、闷仓板和隔板。

此柜虽无款识，但康熙时期风格极为典型，信为该时期制品，柜顶余有榫眼，应原来还有顶箱，可惜遗失，所余者成了方角柜，倒也不耽实用。类似花鸟题材的清早期顶箱柜或方角柜，以百宝嵌者所见最多，反而是描金者少见。从其图案分析，或为清代宫廷妃嫔用具。

说明 此柜髹红漆，描金绘山水人物纹。柜帽喷出，腿足出榫纳入柜顶。柜门硬挤门式，边抹混面，四周以矮老相隔，装板。底枨下牙板两端透雕卷草纹。此柜整体端庄稳重，造型高古，实用性与装饰性兼具。

黑漆描金山水图顶箱立柜，明，高207厘米，横120.5厘米，纵64.5厘米。

柜分为两部分，上顶箱，下立柜。箱、柜各对开两扇门，门上有铜合叶、锁鼻和拉环。顶箱内分两层，立柜内分三层。腿间有壸门牙板。顶箱、立柜门和牙板上分别以金漆描绘楼阁山水人物图，边沿绘折枝花卉。柜侧面以金漆描绘桂花、月季、洞石、兰草。

顶箱立柜这样体量巨大的家具却有如此精心描绘的漆饰是很少见的。从档案可知，此物原置于四执库，那里曾是保存皇帝所用冠履之处，这大概是其不惜工本制作的原因吧。

柜身齐头立方式，正面对开两门，门板与门框平镶。正中有活动插栓。菱花纹铜面叶。长方形合页，柜下安牙条，中间雕花卉纹。两侧腿间装横枨，柜身通体黑漆地，以描金手法绘狮球纹及缠枝莲纹。狮纹为正统的卷手京狮，柜面纹饰对称，各有5对狮子，两侧则各有6对戏耍，狮子描绘可爱、生动。黑色的地子加金色的花纹形成色彩反差，细看花纹内有重点以红色勾线，并分染使花纹更有层次感，图案更加生动活泼。柜后描金手法细腻，绘有寿石、牡丹、桃花、灵芝及寿鸟等纹饰，喻意长命富贵，画意淡雅，上部并有描金《大明万历年制》楷书款，柜后装饰美观，亦可居中摆设隔间，为万历时期富人文写意的一件稀有的宫廷家具。
