It is unusual to find bowls of this shape and pattern with Qianlong marks. An earlier example of the pattern can be seen on a bowl with rounded sides, and Kangxi mark, illustrated in The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum – 38 – Porcelains in Polychrome and Contrasting Colours, Hong Kong, 1999, no. 197. A pair of bowls of the same shape and pattern with Jiaqing marks in the Hong Kong Museum of Art is illustrated in The Wonders of the Potter’s Palette, Hong Kong, 1984, no. 90; and an example with Daoguang mark is illustrated in Imperial Porcelain of Late Qing, Art Gallery, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, 1983, no. 32. A Qianlong-marked bowl of this type was sold in our Hong Kong rooms, 2 May 1994, lot 699.

盌撇口，深腹斜削，平底，圈足內凹，體呈馬蹄形。盌內施白釉，外壁五組團花，間以上下對稱的折枝石榴。近足處飾變形蓮瓣紋。底施白釉，中書篆體「大清道光年製」款。

此器造型規整，釉上彩以綠釉為主，點綴紅、黃等彩，呈色柔和淡雅。

此器1985年5月於香港蘇富比拍賣，拍品187號。

盌撇口，深腹斜削，平底，圈足內凹，體呈馬蹄形。盌內施白釉，外壁五組團花，間以上下對稱的折枝石榴。近足處飾變形蓮瓣紋。底施白釉，中書篆體「大清道光年製」款。

此器造型規整，釉上彩以綠釉為主，點綴紅、黃彩等，呈色柔和淡雅。

QIANLONG SEAL MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE AND OF THE PERIOD (1736-1795)
The bowl has steep sides that flare towards the slightly everted rim, and is decorated on the exterior with roundels of fruiting or flowering trees separated by pomegranate sprays above a border of overlapping leaves.
6 1/8 in. (15.5 cm.) diam.

Lot Essay
The ‘medallion’ bowl design appears to have originated in the Kangxi period, as exemplified by a similar design on a bowl with rounded sides illustrated in The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum – 38 – Porcelains in Polychrome and Contrasting Colours, Hong Kong, 1999, p. 216, no. 197.

There are two shallow chips to the mouth rim. The foot with areas of chalky adhesions.

The bowl is decorated to the exterior with four roundels of dense peony foliage, repeated on the centre of the interior encircled by a double band.

Lot Essay
The soft, pale-blue hues used to decorate the current bowl may reflect the deliberate attempt to imitate blue and white wares from the Chenghua period, which are known for their delicateness and refinement. Yongzheng bowls of this design were also made in another form, with shorter sides and recessed bases, such as the example sold at Christie’s London, 9 November 2004, lot 160; and another one sold at Sotheby’s Hong Kong, 8 October 2010, lot 2774.

说明 说明：碗撇口，斜弧壁，隐圈足，因碗扣覆呈马蹄状，故称马蹄碗。通体施白釉，外口沿下饰青花双弦纹，腹部斗彩绘制五朵团花纹饰，以石榴纹相间隔，近足处饰黄绿红相间的变形菊瓣纹。外底书“大清道光年制”三行六字青花篆书款。全器造型美观，胎体细腻洁白，青花勾绘细致，填彩准确，纹饰精美。
