剔紅菊瓣式蓋盒與北京故宮博物院舊藏朱漆填刻乾隆御製詩蓋盒形制相同（參見《故宮博物院藏文物珍品全集 — 清代漆器》，香港商務印書館，2006年，頁216，圖165），乾隆帝於後者御製詩中稱此類器形「攢英如菊秀」，讚譽有之。

盒內及底髹黑漆，外壁通體髹朱漆剔紅為菊瓣形狀並於每瓣內分刻蓮花圖案，全器造型優雅，剔刻精細，紋飾繁密，具有典型清代乾隆朝富貴華麗風格。舊配雕菊瓣形木座，與蓋盒相配，天然統一。

天津藝術博物館藏有一件風格類似定年為清中期的剔紅菊瓣形蓋盒，著錄於《中國漆器收藏與鑒賞全書》下卷，400頁（圖一）。

Compare to a closely related chrysanthemum-form cinnabar lacquer box and cover in the Tianjin Municipal Art Museum (fig. 1), illustrated in Zhongguo ciqi shoucang yu jianshang quanshu, vol. 2, Tianjin, p. 400, where it is dated to the mid-Qing period.

We have sought to record changes in the condition of this piece acquired after its initial manufacture.
– These are in overall good condition.
– The mouth rim and foot rim of both the boxes and covers have been relacquered.
– There are a few shallow nicks to the rims and carving, some have been restored.

“海路扬帆”单元中展示了南越王墓主棺室出土的一件扁球形银盒，盒身和盖子上有对向交错的蒜头形凸瓣纹，颇具特色。“它是用捶揲法制成，这种工艺及纹饰、造型具有古代西亚波斯金银器的特点，专家判断它很可能是一件海外舶来品。” 银盒进入中国后，工匠在盖子上焊接了盖钮，在盒底加了铜圈足。它被当作药盒使用，出土时盒内还装有药丸。

About
Antique late-19th century exceptional Burmese, Myanmar solid silver Thabeik bowl, repousse’ decorated in high relief depicting different traditional scenes from the Burmese mythology, showing very detailed figures set against a chiselled matted background in landscapes. Around the scenes and the top chased with scrolling foliage and bands, the base decorated with zodiac panels. The quality of the bowl is simply outstanding, the figures and proportions are much smaller than usual. The base is not marked with the makers mark, but judging by the quality he was undeniably a master silversmith, tested silver (900+ standard).
