well potted with deep rounded sides supporting on a short foot, the exterior decorated with a continuous scene depicting Wang Zhaojun seated and playing a pipa in a marquee, a bird fluttering towards the figure, the marquee quaintly decorated with an incense burner, an incense tool vase and books, a groom and a horse portrayed outside, amidst jagged rockwork with small chrysanthemum blooms issuing from the sides, the male attendant portrayed seated with his arms crossed and eyes peering at Wang, the interior intricately enamelled in iron-red with two lingzhi blooms amidst delicately rendered green-enamelled leaves, the base with a six-character reign mark within a double-circle, wood stand

昭君出塞圖盌，盡現康熙瓷之精巧高技，以釉上彩再現山水繪畫與木刻版畫之效果，取礬紅或黑彩細描人物輪廓，精妙入裡，駿馬肌骨、人物衣褶莫不歷歷在目。對比人物的細緻描繪，紋飾中之山石蒼樹，筆觸有力酣暢，色彩層次豐富，呈現昭君將入異邦之際，塞外荒草蔓蔓，宛如世外之境。

康熙御瓷罕作民間故事場景題材，類同此件拍品之器形紋飾者，更是鳳毛麟角。比較玫茵堂珍藏一件尺寸略小，相同器形之五彩盌，繪仙人騎驢，刊於康蕊君，《玫茵堂中國陶瓷》，卷4（II），倫敦，2010年，圖版1740。另一件笠式盃，綴張生與崔鶯鶯長亭送別一幕，出自元代王實輔撰《西廂記》，出處同上，圖版1741，2012年4月4日售於香港蘇富比，編號51。

昭君出塞圖盌，取材元代馬致遠（1250-1321）作雜劇《漢宮秋》，敘述西漢宮女王昭君於元帝時入宮，因不願賄絡宮廷畫師毛延壽，而遭醜化，不得皇帝青睞，直至昭君自願出嫁匈奴呼韓邪單于合親，元帝始知昭君貌美，然為時太晚，合親已成定局，毛延壽惡計亦終遭斬首。此盌再現昭君出塞時，美人沉魚落雁之景。

The brush pot is painted with a scene of Shoulao holding a scroll seated on rockwork beside a lingzhi fungus, flanked by a crane and a deer. His staff is hung with a double-gourd flask and a bat hovers above. The base is modelled with a circular recession.

Each bowl is potted with deep rounded sides rising to a flaring mouth rim, supported on a short tapered foot. The exterior of each bowl is delicately painted with a riverside scene depicting five boys at play, with two further boys in the distance holding lanterns. The underside of each bowl bears a Qianlong four-character seal mark in iron-red within a single square.
